Course Description
The course is offered at the doctoral level and is primarily intended for PhD students who do not have an engineering background. The curriculum integrates practical theories from engineering mathematics. Students are required to use mathematical models to transform common problems in medical engineering into mathematical implementations to achieve results.
Course Objective
The objective of this course is to enable students to effectively apply mathematical methods, including the formulation of mathematical equations, the mathematization of engineering models, the specification of boundary and initial conditions, and the use of computation for solving problems in biomedical engineering. Those who have passed the class should be able to in the short term be familiar with computing engineering mathematics problems and in the mid-term to develop appropriate mathematical models for their own biomedical research problems and apply mathematical methods to propose solutions and ultimately obtain computational results.
